Ad copy: 4 angles, 1 product

Last tested 2026-04-26 Part of AI Prompts for Marketers
Write ad copy for {{product}} across four distinct strategic angles: pain, aspiration, proof, urgency. Per angle, produce one headline and one description.

Platform: {{platform}}

Follow the platform character limits exactly:
- Google Search: headline 30 chars, description 90 chars.
- Meta (Facebook/Instagram): headline 40 chars, primary text 125 chars.
- LinkedIn: headline 70 chars, intro text 150 chars.

Constraints:
- Lead with the buyer outcome, not the product feature.
- Urgency angle must reference a real deadline or constraint - never invent one.
- No exclamation marks.
- No marketing verbs (leverage, unlock, empower, transform, revolutionize).

Why it works

Ad copy fails when it leads with the product instead of the buyer outcome. This prompt forces four explicit angles - pain, aspiration, proof, urgency - and produces variations under each. You ship four ads that argue different cases for the same product and let performance data pick the winner, which is the only honest way to do ad copy. The prompt also enforces strict character limits per platform so you don't have to manually re-trim variations that are 5 chars over Google's headline limit. Use this for every paid campaign and you'll stop arguing about which angle is right - you'll just test all four.

Example output

Product: PromptPaste - your AI prompt clipboard.

Pain angle (Google headline, 30 chars): Your best prompts are lost.
Pain angle (description, 90 chars): Saved in chat history you'll never find. PromptPaste keeps them one tap away.

Aspiration angle (headline): Paste your best prompts faster.
Aspiration angle (description): Cmd+Shift+P, pick a prompt, copied. Built for Mac and iOS.

Proof angle (headline): 50+ prompts, ⌘⇧P away.
Proof angle (description): Trusted by founders, marketers, and writers who paste 100x a day.

Urgency angle (headline): Founders rate ends Friday.
Urgency angle (description): $59/yr for the first 1,000 users. After that, $99. Lock it in now.

Common mistakes

Don't ship all four angles to the same audience at the same time - they will cannibalize each other. Run them as a 4-cell test or rotate weekly. Also: 'urgency' should never be invented urgency. If there is no real deadline, drop the angle and run the other three. Every fake-urgency ad you ship trains your audience to ignore the real ones.
